Rocket launchers?
How are they called? We don't know... we just call them "tubes".
You cannot imagine how often people asked us what it is, or what it is for! Every time we mounted them for a ride, we got the attention of many. We got the craziest guesses... from rocket-launchers to, well... let's keep it 18+ here.
And after we told them about our applications of the "luggage tubes", we got asked where one can buy them. Maybe you can purchase them at a place, but we made them ourselves.
How? Well, here are some pics that are pretty self-explanatory:
We use PVC. In this case it is heated to get to the next step of putting the metal strap tightly around it.
Like this.
Then glue the PVC pieces together.
The metal strip is locked into its position by a glue seal.
From left to right:
- the PVC pieces
- all glued with metal strip attached
- painted and clamps attached
Attach it to your bike like this for example.
Decorate it to your own taste.
Make your own "Betty".
.... other alternatives are possible as well of course. Give it your own personal touch.
